Monday 10/20
Monday 10/20
Today was the third MATHia day towards this grading cycle. Grades will be calculated on Friday, so make sure to keep track of your progress to reach your goals by the end of the week.
Don't forget: We'll be hosting an online study session tonight for tomorrow's Chapter 3 Test in The Community from 7:30 to 8:30. Bring your questions!
Your class work, homework, and chapter 3 summary are all great study tools to use tonight, but THE BEST TOOL is your Chapter 3 pre-test that you did as homework two weeks ago. It'll give you some pretty good insight into what'll be on tomorrow's test. Doing that pre-test again on a separate sheet of paper is a great way to gauge your preparation!

Week 10 Extra Credit
A linear function, when graphed, runs through the points (2, 9), (6, 17) and (9,23).
Write an equation for a linear function that has the same slope as the linear function represented above, but a greater y-intercept.
Write an equation in slope- intercept form.
Thursday 10/16
We worked towards our mastery goals in MATHia today.
We'll be taking Common Assessment #2 tomorrow. Be sure to do everything in your power tonight to walk in as prepared and confident as possible tomorrow. A study guide is available in the Documents Locker. The best study tools are old tests, previous class work, and completed homework assignments.
Homework: Study for Common Assessment #2
Wednesday 10/15
Today we finished the second half of Lesson 3.6, which focused on equations in standard form.
Tomorrow will be a MATHia day and we'll be taking Common Assessment #2 on Friday.
Also, we'll be taking our Chapter 3 Test on Tuesday next week, so an online study sessionhas been scheduled for Monday night throughThe Community for those that may be interested.

We learned how to do three things in class today with the first half ofLesson 3.6:
Today's lesson was a very important one, so be sure to check your class work with the solutions posted here. Also, be sure to give your best effort on tonight's homework (use your class work to help you if you need). It's important that we're all proficient with these skills.
A study guide for Common Assessment #2 has been posted to the Document Locker. It's a great tool to help you focus your study time and preparation efforts for theCommon Assessment on Friday.
Homework: Equations in Slope-Intercept Form worksheet
- Graph a line using slope-intercept form,
- Find the y-intercept if given only the slope and a point on the line,
- Find the equation of a line if given only two points on the line

Monday 10/13
Today was the first day of our second MATHia grading period, which makes it a great day to start fresh, compare your MATHia grades from the previous two weeks with the rubric, set some goals for improvement, and get off to a great start!
We need to deviate a bit from our normal routine, so here's the plan for the rest of the week:
- Monday MAthia
- Tuesday: Lesson 3.6 (first half)
- Wednesday: Lesson 3.6 (second half)
- Thursday: MATHia
- Friday: Common Assessment #2 Homework: MATHia practice

Thursday, October 9, 2014
Thursday 10/09
We learned how to find the y-intercept in contexts, graphs, tables, and equations today with Lesson 3.5.
Homework: Textbook pages 192-194 (Problem #6, all)
Wednesday, October 8, 2014
Wednesday 10/08
Today we learned how to find the slope (also known as rate of change) from an equation in Lesson 3.4. We learned that when an equation is written in slope-intercept form, the coefficient in front of the variable xrepresents the slope. To find the slope, all we have to do is rewrite any equation in slope-intercept form!
Homework: Fix last night's homework (key below) andtextbook pgs 179-180 (#3, 4, 5, 7)

Tuesday, October 7, 2014
Tuesday 10/07
We learned how to find the rate of change from a tabletoday with Lesson 3.2.
Homework: Finish the Rate of Change Activity worksheets.
Extra Credit:
Describe, in your own words, the process for determining the rate of change from a graph. To earn the extra credit, write your response on a separate sheet of paper.

Monday 10/06
We continued working with MATHia today in class.
Remember to spend at least 30 minutes working in MATHia outside of the classroom each week to meet your goals. Our second MATHia grading period ends on Friday at midnight.

Thursday 10/03
We began Chapter 3 today with a look at finding the rate of change from a graph with Lesson 3.1. Be sure you understand and can use the key terms from this lesson:
- rate
- rate of change
- per
- unit rate
- rise
- run
Wednesday, October 1, 2014
Tuesday 9/30
We finished Chapter 2 today by taking a look atnonlinear functions with Lesson 2.7. This completes our introduction to functions, and brings us to the Chapter 2 test.
Homework: Textbook page 114 "Talk the Talk"; Study for the test!
