Friday 1/30

Today was spent on reviewing last night's homework. We finished our look at congruent triangles with the last portion of Lesson 8.2 and MAthia.

Don't forget, this semester's first MATHia grading period will close tonight at midnight. Make sure you've reached your goals for the first grade.
Here is this week's extra credit:
1.List the coordinates of each of the vertices of triangle JKL.

Thursday 1/29

Today's minimum day was spent reviewing last night's homework and completing 8.2 Congruent Triangles.

Homework: Textbook 445-449, Problems 3 and 4, Plus- Talk the Talk.

Wednesday 1/27

We learned about congruent triangles today in the first half of Lesson 8.2.

We discovered the difference between equal and congruent, and investigated how to write congruency statements and measure/length statements.

Homework: Textbook pages 439-440

Tuesday 1/27

Today we studied translatingrotating, and reflecting triangles with Lesson 8.1. Be sure to finish up any class work tonight that you didn't get completed in class today.

We also passed back the Chapter 7 tests today and went over the correct solutions. If you'd like to improve your grade, you can retake the test on Wednesday at lunch. Be sure to study and become an expert.

Homework: Textbook pages 436-438

Tuesday 1/13/15

Today we dove into translations withLesson 7.1

Here's the Ohio State Marching Band illustrating a translation for you. :-)

Parents: Ask your child to explain in their own words (and identify in their class work) the terms transformation, translation, congruent, image, and pre-image.

Here's the Desmos tool we used for translations in class today: bit.ly/desmostranslations It may come in handy on your homework tonight.

Homework: Textbook pg 392-393 (all), textbook pg 394 (#1), and finish any leftover class work.

Monday 1/26/15

We spend today working on MATHia. The first grading period for MATHia will close on Friday.

Are you on track to reach your goals? Be sure to track your progress with the link the toolbar.

Homework: MATHia practice and 8.1 Problem 1, Question 1, pp.430-432.

Friday 1/23/15

Congrats to all of you that earned awards at the ceremony today. It was great to see so many of my students recognized for outstanding academic achievement!

Here is this week's extra credit:

Week 20 Extra Credit

A triangle has vertices at A(2, 5), B(8, 5), and C(7, 7). If that triangle were reflected over the line y = 2, then over the line x = 4, what would the coordinates be of the corresponding vertices?

Write your answers as ordered pairs: (x,y) .
Location of A':
Location of B':
Location of C':

Thursday 1/22/15

We took our Chapter 7 test in class today. On to Chapter 8 next week!

Wednesday, January 21, 2015

Wednesday 1/21/15

Today in class we worked with reflections in Lesson 7.4.

This concluded our introduction to transformations, and wrapped up Chapter 7.

We'll be taking our Chapter 7 test tomorrow in class. Be sure to study tonight! Your chapter summary and old homework assignments make great study guides.

We'll also be hosting a test study session tonight in The Community. We won't be offering extra credit this time around, but teachers will be standing by to answer your questions.

Homework: Textbook page 421 "Talk the Talk" (#1-2)

Tuesday 1/20/15

We finished out look at rotations today with the second half of Lesson 7.3.

We'll be taking our Chapter 7 test on Thursday this week. Happy studying!

Homework: Textbook pages 413-414 "Talk the Talk" (#1-2)

Friday 1/16/15

Great first week back, everyone! Enjoy your three-day weekend.

Thursday HW Solutions: Rotations worksheet answer key

Here is this week's extra credit:

A line with the equation y= x+4 is designated as a pre-image. An image is created by translating the original line -7 units vertically.

1. Write an equation in slope-intercept form to represent the image.

2. "Translated -7 units vertically" is one way of describing the transformation.  Describe a second            way that the transformation may have taken place.

Thursday 1/15/15

Today we worked with rotations with the first part of Lesson 7.3. We'll finish the rest of the lesson next Tuesday.

Homework: Rotations worksheet & finish any leftover class work.

Wednesday, January 14, 2015

Wednesday 1/14

We continued our work with translations today with a look at translating linear functions in Lesson 7.2.

We discovered that translating a linear function either vertically or horizontally will change the y-intercept, but will not change the slope in any way.

Homework: Textbook pages 403-405 (#4-7)

Monday 01/12/15

We spent our first day back from winter break working in MATHia. You should be just about done with island three, if you're not already. Be sure to spend some extra time, if you need it, to reach your goals.

Homework: MATHia practice (at least 30 minutes each week) Highlight Key Terms and their definitions.
