Wednesday 2/25


We dove into Chapter 11 today with an introduction tosystems of equations in Lesson 11.1. We've got A LOT more to do with systems, but today was a good warm-up for us.

For those that were absent today, be sure to do all of Problem 1 on your own to be prepared for tomorrow. You can use this blank copy of 11.1 if you haven't ripped out your textbook pages yet.

Homework: Finish textbook pages 601-602 (#13-18), then textbook page 602 (#1-4)

Tuesday 2/24


I was at the district office today, but in my absence you were working in MATHia. Many of you missed class today for Pioneer Day activities; make sure to make up the MATHia time on your own so you can meet your goals by the end of next week.

Tomorrow we'll complete the first half of Lesson 11.1. Those that are going to be out tomorrow, make sure to complete that lesson on your own prior to Thursday. You'll need to have the first half (Problem 1) complete to be able to do the second half with us. If you haven't torn your textbook pages out yet, here is a blank copy of 11.1 so you can stay caught-up at home.

Monday 2/23


Today's scheduled Pioneer Day activities were postponed until tomorrow - which impacted our plan quite a bit.

We took our Chapter 10 test today instead of tomorrow to ensure everyone had an opportunity to take it in class. Tomorrow will be a MATHia day. If you end up missing our scheduled class time for Pioneer Day activities, be sure to make up that computer time on your own.

Today we finished Chapter 10 with a look at Lesson 10.5.

We'll be taking Common Assessment #4 tomorrow. A study guide has been posted to the Document Locker. Please be sure to put in some time tonight reviewing the chapter summaries from chapters 7, 8, 9, and 10.

Also, the deadline for this MATHia grading period is tomorrow night. Have you met your goals yet?

We investigated the slopes of parallel and perpendicular lines today with Lesson 10.4.

Parents: Ask your child to share with you what they discovered about the slopes of parallel lines, and the slopes of perpendicular lines.

 Today we finished Lesson 10.2, and then worked on MATHia. 

Here is this week's extra credit:
  1. Draw a detailed, colorful map of the neighborhood and area surrounding one of your favorite places.
  2. Label street names, landmarks, and other points of interest on your map
  3. Identify on the map an example of each of  the different types of lines we learned about in Lesson 10.1
  4. Identify on the map an example of each of the different types of angles we learned about in Lesson 10.2
  5. Bring your finished product  on Tuesday.

We dove into dilations today with the first part (Problem 1) of Lesson 9.1.

Parents: Ask your child to explain to you the difference between congruent and similar shapes. They should be able to provide details and characteristics of each. Bonus if they mention the terms dilation, enlargement, and reduction.

Need a protractor for homework, but don't have one at home? Print and cut-out this paper protractor instead.
